Sustainable Reefs and Southern Cross University partner in Reef Restoration Research

Reef Restoration for the GBR! Sustainable Reefs is partnering with Southern Cross University in order to establish a coral farm and coral restoration program to help restore key areas of the Great Barrier Reef. The program covers the science and business of restoration which is key to its success. Sustainable Reefs is providing proprietary techniques for sustainable culture of parent colonies that will be fragged, grown out and then out-planted by dive teams.   Southern Cross University will also conduct badly needed research to confirm the most appropriate and efficient strategies for reseeding degraded and damaged Australian (and neighbouring) reefs.  Sustainable Reefs will provide a coral bank for emergency and planned restoration activities- thus making the region better prepared for predicted increases in ports, shipping and tourism.
